Believing Women
Published posthumously from recorded lectures, this simple little book is a precious treasure. Elizabeth's no-nonsense wisdom shines through as she shares lessons her Father taught her. She sees suffering as a gift from God — one we offer back up to Him. Like the little boy's lunch, or the widow's oil and flour, what we can offer is a pitiful thing. But He can use it to bless the world and bring glory to Himself. Read this book to encourage yourself to think biblically about suffering, and consider sharing it with a friend!
I enjoyed this book so much that I now need to buy my own copy, since I borrowed it from the library! Phylicia does a terrific job of covering huge topics — soteriology, anyone? — in twenty-page chapters, walking through each of the major doctrines and presenting how our beliefs in each area affect how we live. My only reservation is her chapter on eschatology. Overall, though, I found the book very helpful, and it has inspired me to strive to teach doctrine to women simply and clearly, as she has done.
